"Where's my cream"

Jayden and Manuel have developed this bad habit of wanting Ice Cream almost every night. I usually do partake, and if I do I usually share with Zion. This particular night, we when through the Braum's drive thru on our nightly ice cream run and I didn't get anything. The attendant passed the cups through the window in to us and I handed Jayden his cup. Manuel retrieved his serving and we drove away. As we were pulling away Zion started to whine "Where's my cream, where's my cream, I said WHERE IS MY CREAM!" Gone are the days when we can just get two or three cups of ice cream, Zion is officially ordering every time we go some place.

Usually when Jayden doesn’t get much rest the night before, he will wake up the next morning with a fever blister. So, I usually stay on him pretty hard to get in bed at a decent time so that his immune system doesn’t struggle. This morning I woke up and I had a fever blister on my top lip. Jayden grabbed my chin and turned it from side to side examining the blister and then he finally said…… “Mom, what time did you go to bed last night?” Kids say the darndest things.

My little track star

Jayden is really athletic. He's a little squirt, but excels at almost anything he tried because he's so driven.... (this will serve him well later in life). He has a friend Caleb who is running track with the NWA Track Club, of course in an effort to spend more time "playing" Jayden has decided he wants to give track a shot. I took him (figured it would keep him busy for the summer - boy was I right), and he was instantly drawn to the 100, 200, and long jump. He practiced with the team and within a couple weeks he had a meet. First time running competitively and he get's 4th in the 100, bailed out of the 200 (wouldn't run), and 1st place in the long jump. Now his coach is really pushing him to give it his all, pay attention to his form, practice outside of official practices. She talked with me the other day and said he has lots of potential in this sport if he applied himself.

My sweet little boy!

Jayden has a problem with fever blisters. Whenever he doesn't get enough rest the night before, he will almost always get a blister the next morning. When this happens, I always make him go to bed a little earlier the day it arrives, and he absolutely hates it! The other day, I picked him up from day camp and I was the one with the fever blister. Jayden got in the car and I said "how was your day Jayden", he said, "good mom". A few seconds went by and he looked at me, placed his hand on my face and turned it towards him, observed my fever blister, and said "mom, what time did you go to bed last night?????" "I think we need to work on you getting in bed a little early tonight, so we can get rid of this little sucker." I aggressively agreed.... lol! Sweet little boy.

Jayden's Crying MOMMY!

Jayden is really starting to smell himself lately and you can't tell him anything without him getting an attitude with you. It's been a battle of the wills in my house for a few weeks now and I'm just about done...... Last night, I asked Jayden to walk Shordee, he gave me attitude, I corrected him and he when on to do what I asked. I then asked him to bring me his dirty clothes basket, she sighed loudly and failed to move from the couch, I reminded him of my request and he flung his body off the couch, got his laundry basket and threw it in the laundry room. At this point, I called him over to me and said, "is something going on son? something you want to talk about? is everything ok? you're behavior sucks!" He snatched away from me and continued to try watching the tv show he was so into. To keep from beating him, I told him to go to his room and rest..... (maybe he's tired -I'm thinking). Jayden goes to his room followed promptly by Zion. A few seconds later Zion emerges to inform "Janen's cying momma, Janen's cying". I said, "he'll be ok, he's just mad at momma." Zion said "no momma, he not mad, he sad, mone, mone, check on him."

"You go to the potty, daddy?"

Zion has been adjusting quite well the school. He absolutely loves Mrs. Courtney. As long as she's there, the hand off is painless and smooth. When she's not, it's can sometimes be a bumpy ride. The daycare has been good about assisting us in our potty training efforts, he only goes through one package of pull ups every couple weeks. Not bad at all. Everyday when Manuel picks him up, the conversation goes something like this......
Dad: you have a good day Zion?
Zion: yes sir
Dad: you take a nap
Zion: I sleep morning (translation, yes)
Dad: you go to the potty
Zion: yes sir, I pee pee in the potty daddy
etc......
This particular day, Manuel picked Zion up from school and Zion initiated the conversation:
Zion: you have a good day daddy?
Dad: yes zion how about you?
Zion: yep, you take a nap daddy?
Dad: no zion, daddy has to work, you take a nap?
Zion: yep, you pee pee on the potty daddy?
Dad: yes zion daddy always pee pee on the potty, you pee pee on the potty zion
Zion: yep, zion always pee pee on the potty daddy

The things they pick up so quickly.....

I'm a big boy now! - Jayden style

Jayden turned 8 on May 10th and he had a blast at his birthday party. He invited about 15 little boys and we all went to Lokomotion. I was a bit concerned when we walked in because it's a tab run down.... not exactly like I remember it, but none the less Jayden and his friends spent the majority of their time either scarfing down pizza, cake, and drinks, or playing laser tab, riding go carts, bumper boating, or playing put put. I figured it would be a nightmare with Zion trying to keep up and Jayden not wanting to be bothered with his little brother, but quite to the contrary every where he could lug him along he did. It was just about the sweetest thing I've seen in a while.

The dreaded grandfather clock

Zion isn't scared of much, but Manuel's sister, Bobbie, has a grandfather clock that he is petrified of. It chimes every 30 minutes and no matter what he's doing or where he is, he sprints to me with all of his might and holds onto my leg for dear life. I place my hand on his back to give him added security and I can feel his heart bounding through his back! I have not idea why he's so scared of that stupid thing.
